Overview

Nepal Can Report is built so that submitting a civic report requires the minimum information needed to get it to the right office. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you can remove it.

What we collect when you submit a report

• Location: GPS coordinates if you allow it, or the district/municipality/ward/tole you type in manually.
• Photo: optional. If you attach one, it's included in the email sent to the relevant office.
• Description: whatever you write about the problem.
• Contact details: your name and phone number are optional on every report. You can submit anonymously.
• Technical data: your IP address and a short-lived rate-limit cookie, used only to stop spam and automated abuse — never shown to the receiving office.

How your report is used

Your report is sent by email, via our sending service (EmailJS), directly to the government office responsible for that sector, with a copy to Hello Sarkar (1111). Nepal Can Report does not keep a copy of the full report content on its own servers after sending — the email is the record.

What we store on our servers

To power the public "Community Impact" counter on the home page, we log only the report type and sector (e.g. "citizen report, water") to our database (Supabase). This log never includes your name, phone number, photo, location, or description — it's a plain count, nothing personally identifying.

What stays on your device

Your report history, saved photos, and any auto-fill profile info (like a name you've used before) are stored locally in your browser — using localStorage and IndexedDB — not on our servers. Clearing your browser data, or using the "Clear All My Data" button in the app, removes all of it permanently from your device.

Third parties involved

• EmailJS — delivers your report email to the government office.
• Supabase — stores the anonymous report-count log described above.
• Vercel — hosts the website and its backend functions.

Each of these processes data only to the extent needed to run the service, and none of them are permitted to use it for advertising.

Cookies

We set one functional cookie strictly to enforce a daily submission limit and prevent abuse. It carries no personal data and isn't used for tracking or advertising.

Your rights and choices

• Report anonymously — name and phone are always optional.
• Delete everything stored on your device at any time via "Clear All My Data".
• Export your local report history via "Export My Data" before deleting, if you want a copy.

Children

Nepal Can Report is intended for general public use and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data specifically from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
